Ming-style Classic Clothes Rack
Ming-style Classic Clothes Rack
Ming Dynasty Style Furniture is crafted from hardwoods like red sandalwood, rosewood, Cassia siamea, and beech wood by skilled artisans starting from the mid-Ming Dynasty (1638-1644). Notably, furniture produced by craftsmen from the Jiangnan region, particularly around Suzhou, is highly esteemed. This is commonly referred to as "Suzhou Ming Dynasty Style Furniture," or simply "Su Style Furniture." Su Style Furniture is renowned for its unique artistic expression and local character, boasting four key features: "meticulously designed structure, smooth lines, exquisite craftsmanship, and elegant lacquer finish."
The "meticulously designed structure" involves using mortise and tenon joints, ensuring the furniture's structural integrity and a balance between different weights and forces. "Smooth lines" emphasize linear elements over carved or sculpted wooden parts. "Exquisite craftsmanship" refers to the rigorous quality controls applied at every production stage, including material selection, accessory preparation, woodworking, polishing, and lacquering, all executed with precision and allowing no room for errors. Lastly, "elegant lacquer finish" describes the result achieved by traditional raw Chinese lacquer, which, through more than ten careful processes, gives a paint-like appearance without actually using paint.
